I've come to the understanding that there are people out there, or at least one, that may have the impression that realism is a waste of time.
Realism may be depicting what a photo or physical representation already has but it is still important as art.
As interesting other genres of art may be, there's something that has and always will be classic and truly magnificent about realism.
A sketched picture may look just like the referenced subject, but there's something more to that sketch. A human being made it..with their bare hands. That means every detail was taken into strong consideration. Every tiny little detail was carefully observed and then carefully duplicated. When you look at the finished product it's not just an imitation. There's something more to that sketched drawing than there will ever be in a referenced photograph.
If you can't appreciate that kind of craft, your head is surely too far up your ass to appreciate anything.
